Disney's Frozen is one of the most successful animated musicals of all time, making over $1.2 Billion dollars worldwide, and that's just the box office. That doesn't count all the Elsa dolls, Disney Park attractions or movie soundtracks that have made this franchise so valuable.
There has already been an animated short spin off, "Frozen Fever" (released before Cinderella) and another longer format that debuted before Pixar's "Coco" called, "Olaf's Frozen Adventure." And of course, Frozen 2 is now in the works at Disney Animation for a 2019 release.
So, it was only natural that a powerhouse animated musical would be bound for Broadway. Frozen: The Broadway Musical is already in previews but will officially open on March 22 at the St. James Theatre.
For this production, additional songs have been created by the original song writing duo from the animated movies, Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.
Here's one of the new numbers, "Monster" sung by Caissie Levy, who plays Elsa in the Broadway show.
