Associate Producer Ben 'Saves' Bird!

I was walking out to my car to get something when I heard a rustle in the trees and the flutter of wings flapping. In the corner of my eye I saw a bird fly out. I heard a loud *thunk* and then *splat*. I quickly looked over and a Turtle Dove lying on the ground in front of the door. I ran over to see if it had died but it was still breathing. A couple of other people saw the bird laying there, so I decided to take action and call a local vet to see what we could do. They told me to call the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission who kept me on hold for about 15 minutes until I decided to see if I could pick up the bird without further injury. It's neck was turned to the side so I was afraid it was broken or badly injured. I carefully took it over to where the trees are and set it down in the grass where it seemed to gain some sort of life back. It started waddling around and then after trying to get it up and running, the beautiful creature took off into the skies. I guess I didn't really save the bird, but it still felt nice knowing that it was okay!
