Chance The Rapper Says His New Album Is Coming Out This Week

Update: It doesn't seem like Chance the Rapper's new album is dropping in the near future, after all. "Sorry no album this week, def been in the stu tho," he tweeted after his interview went viral.

Earlier this month, Chance the Rapper admitted that he was working on his sophomore effort with Kanye West and it seems like the project is coming sooner than we expected.

In an interview with The Chicago Tribune, the 25-year-old rapper said that the follow-up to his 2016 debut, Coloring Book, will drop something this week. "I got that feeling when people do something that has a new feel to it," he admitted during the discussion. "I'm excited for everybody to get that. It's going to come out just in time for the Special Olympics." In case you missed it, Chance is scheduled to headline a concert in his hometown on Saturday (July 21) to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Special Olympics, so keep your eyes on digital retailers on New Music Friday. Among the other performers set for the concert include Usher, Francis & The Lights, Daya, Smokey Robinson, O.A.R. and Jason Mraz.

Elsewhere in the interview, the Chi-town rapper opened up about working with 'Ye on two songs in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. "We're up in the mountains around these wild animals — it's very different out there -- and we got some music done, and then he asked me if he could do an album with me," Chance explained. "I don’t know of a timeline on it yet, the trajectory of it, but he’s coming here to work on it some more. We've just started making it, but I don't want to manipulate the situation and impose any time frame, because that can hinder you."
