Backstreet Boys Reveal Special Tour Opening Act At iHeartRadio Music Awards

Drum roll, please! The opening act for the Backstreet Boys' DNA World Tour is... Brian Littrell's son, Baylee Littrell!

Nick Carter let the news slip while on the iHeartRadio Music Awards red carpet Thursday (March 14) while speaking with z100's Medha Gandhi and Danielle Monaro. "Brian's son is actually opening for us on the DNA World Tour!" Nick said alongside the other members of BSB. Brian then confirmed the news, saying his 16-year-old son will be joining them on the road in Europe.

As fans know, Baylee made his country music debut at his Sweet 16 party back in November, with the launch of his single "Don't Knock It."

"It really felt right," he told People about the timing of the release of the track so close to his birthday. "My mom, dad and I were just talking about it one night and they said they thought now was the perfect time to start. We chose November, the month of my birthday, to release the first single." Baylee performed the single for the first time at his Sweet 16 bash in Atlanta, Georgia.

Baylee's "DNA World Tour" won't be the first time he's taken a big stage. He's previously toured the world with the Backstreet Boys, opened up for Mariah Carey, and even appeared on Broadway.

Baylee's decision to go down the country route instead of diving into pop like his father was an easy one for him as he explained that it all came down to what he connected to the most. "You can’t relate to any other song like you can to a country song, and that’s why I bonded with it so much and that’s why it’s my favorite genre," Baylee explained to People last year. "If I was ever going through a breakup or hard time, I always listened to country music — it’s Luke Combs or something super country that tells a story."

While the teenager's paving his own path in country music that doesn't mean he hasn't turned to his pop star father for advice. "My dad has always been my champion, so he’s always told me to just do what I want to do and follow my dreams, and to do my best and not overthink it," Baylee said about the advice he’s received from Brian. "It’s really just taken so much pressure off."

The European leg of the Backstreet Boys' DNA World Tour kicks off in Lisbon, Portugal on May 11.
