Kelly Clarkson Slams Claim About Taking 'Weird Pills' To Lose Weight

54th Academy Of Country Music Awards - Arrivals

Kelly Clarkson really wants people to chill out with the fake news.

Last night (May 16), the "Broken & Beautiful" musician was forced to take some time out of her busy schedule to put yet another rumor to rest, as the singer was recently accused of using weight loss pills and other unconventional dieting methods to shed weight. Clarkson says the gossip is "not true," and explained her "diet," for lack of a better term, is nothing unique — just a change of ingredients is all.

“Other fake news that’s going around about me is that I’ve been taking weird pills 4 weight loss or doing weird fad diets,” the artist tweeted. “All of this is not true. I ain’t got time 4 all that. I eat the same stuff I always have. It’s all just made w/different flours/sugars/ingredients. #DrGundry.”

Per the hashtag, the doctor Clarkson accredits her lifestyle change is Dr. Steven R. Gundry, MD, whose 2017 book, The Plant Paradox, inspired her to adopt more "clean eating" habits. The 37-year-old discussed her nutrition last summer, telling Extra, "I literally read this book, and I did it for this autoimmune disease that I had and I had a thyroid issue, and now all my levels are back up."

She continued: "I’m not on medicine anymore because of this book, it’s called ‘The Plant Paradox (by Steven R. Gundry, MD).’ It’s basically about how we cook our food, non-GMO, no pesticides, eating really organic... Literally, I haven’t worked out at all!"

Clarkson later noted her weight loss was simply a side effect of controlling the medical condition.

Earlier this month, the "Behind These Hazel Eyes" musician underwent an operation to have her appendix removed after experiencing pain while hosting the 2019 Billboard Music Awards.
