Can You Believe This Actress Auditioned For Daenerys On 'Game Of Thrones'?

If Elizabeth Olsen looks familiar, chances are you probably recognize her as Scarlet Witch of Marvel's Avengers films. Although the actress has become more or less known for her part as one of the franchise's butt-kicking sorceresses, Olsen came this close to landing another role in another widely-popular series: Game of Thrones.

And not just any role, but the part of Daenerys Targaryen (originated by Emilia Clarke)!

Sadly, as the 30-year-old told Vulture, her audition for the Breaker of Chains didn't go as well as she remembered.

"It was the most awkward audition I'd ever had," Olsen said of the try-out, which apparently required more fantasy knowledge than she knew at the time.

Evidently, the monologue was from a final scene of the first season in which "[Daenerys] just burned. And she's making this speech to thousands of people about how she's their queen," Olsen recalled. "They didn't know if they wanted a British accent or not. So, you did it in both. It was terrible. Anytime someone says, 'Bad audition story.' That's one I remember."

Despite losing the part to Clarke, the Avengers: Endgame star says she's just as much a fan of the show as everyone else in the world — and that she has a particular obsession with Jon Snow character. "I'm just so deep in Game of Thrones that all I can think about is Kit Harington," Olsen gushed. "I mean, he's just brainwashed me."

As you know, the cult-followed HBO series came to an end with its eight and final season Sunday night (May 19) — and the cast of the show were just as broken up about the series finale as the rest of us.
