Netflix Announces Release Date For New 'Tiger King' Episode

We’re just a few days away from the new Tiger King episode!

After days of speculation (April 9), Netflix officially announced an eighth installment of the popular docuseries is arriving this weekend. The extra episode, entitled “Tiger King and I,” is slated to premiere this Sunday (April 12). The after-show segment will be hosted by comedian Joel McHale, who dons cowboy attire and a leopard print shawl to help tease the long-awaited announcement in a video teasing the upcoming special.

“I talk to a lot of people involved in the project,” McHale revealed. “To see what's happened in their lives since the release of the series. It's eye-opening and, hopefully, funny."

Arriving on the heels of Tiger King stardom, the special will include never-before-seen interviews with cast members John Reinke, Joshua Dial, John Finlay, Saff, Erik Cowie, Rick Kirkman, and Jeff and Lauren Lowe.

The announcement comes just a week after Jeff spilled the beans on the new episode following the excitement and success of Tiger King’s original seven-episode run in its March 20 premiere.

For those who have yet to tune in, Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness became an instant fan-favorite for its wild take on chronicling infamous zoo operator and “Tiger King” Joe Exotic’s ongoing feud with animal rights nemesis Carole Baskin. What began as a comical rivalry between the two animal lovers turned dark after Exotic was arrested for allegedly paying a hitman $3,000 to kill Baskin.

In 2019, the show’s namesake was convicted on 17 federal charges of animal abuse and two counts of murder for hire for a plot to have the Big Cat Rescue CEO killed. As yet, he is serving a 22-year prison sentence.
