An apartment fire in Raleigh reportedly caused injuries early Friday morning.
The Raleigh Fire Department confirmed multiple units were sent to a Stonehenge Drive complex to extinguish the fire and multiple injuries were reported, ABC 11 reports. ABC 11 crews reported seeing multiple ambulances transporting patients from the scene Friday morning.
A daughter of one of the residents involved in the fire confirmed to ABC 11 her mother was taken to the hospital and treated for smoke inhalation. Another resident told ABC 11 she and her boyfriend noticed the smell of smoke when they woke up and were hit wit a wall of black smoke when they opened their front door.
The resident said she and her boyfriend then went to their balcony and screamed for help before firefighters used a ladder to help evacuate them to safety.
The apartment complex is located on Stonehenge Drive and is approximately 1,000 feet east of the intersection with Creedmoor Road in Raleigh.
The Raleigh Professional Fire Fighters Association's Facebook account confirmed the department was responding to a working fire on Friday morning:
"Raleigh Fire Units are going to work this morning. 18 Engine arriving on Stonehenge Drive to heavy smoke showing and reports of victims trapped, requesting the working fire assignment. 18 stretching the primary attack line, Rescue 1 is grabbing trapped occupants off of Bravo side balconies via ground ladders and entering for primary searches. Charlie side attack line in service, ladders assisting with searches and ventilation. All hands currently working. Second alarm is requested for manpower."
