Mother Of Murder Victim Lunges At Suspect During Court Appearance

In an emotional courtroom scene, the mother of a murder victim appeared to lunge at the suspect accused of killing her 23-year-old son. UPS driver Dylan Scott Wall was out delivering packages in downtown Raleigh on Wednesday (February 10) when Stephen Joseph Bynem, 30, allegedly approached Wall and shot him multiple times.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found Wall suffering from a gunshot wound, ABC 11 reports. He was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries. Wall is survived by his wife and 5-year-old son. Bynem has been charged with murder and is being held at the Wake County Detention Center without bond.

During a court appearance on Thursday, Wall's mother Vernie, overcome with emotion, jumped up and toward Bynem, shouting at the accused, before she apologized to the judge and ran out of the room in tears. The scene was captured on video and can be found at ABC 11.

"As much as I've been through in my life, this is a pain like no other," Vernie Wall said. "I feel like more soul has just died."

Vernie said a neighbor's Ring doorbell camera caught the fatal shooting on video. WRAL reports that the homeowner gave the footage to police.

Officials with UPS released a statement following news of Wall's death, saying they are heartbroken by his loss and offering condolences to his family and friends.
