Oh, you liked Panic! at the Disco before? Let's talk after you listen to their cover of Outkast's 'Hey Ya' because it's A-MAZING!
I'm honestly surprised I like it so much. I think you sort of have to take yourself out of the newer, Brendon Urie-centric P!ATD to really enjoy the cover. The band has gotten a little more serious in the past few years, at least musically. The band's three most recent albums, 'Pray for the Wicked,' 'Death of a Bachelor,' and 'Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die' incorporate some Sinatra-esque tones smashed together with trippy 808's - (and I'm here for it).
BUT. Let's not forget, OG Panic! fans, that the band is super goofy and fun. I think this Outkast cover is a great callback to the lighthearted band we've grown to love and hell, grown up with!
Okay, you know I'm a HUGE P!ATD fan-boy, so I wanted to shout out some of the band's previous covers that I'm particularly fond of. First, their cover of the Weekend/Daft Punk's 'Starboy' is unreal.
But y'know, my ALL TIME FAVORITE Panic! at the Disco cover is an older one.... Kansas' 'Carry On My Wayward Son.' I mean, how rock n' roll is the cigarette in the guitar headstock!?
