Michelle Obama and Meghan Markle Team Up for Female Empowerment

The United Nations Foundation created the Girl Up Leadership Summit in 2010. Its objective is to bring young women together for global change. The movement's annual leadership summit took place on July 13-15 this year. On Monday, the campaign's YouTube page uploaded a speech by the former first lady. "Over these past few months, there's been so much uncertainty. You all are dealing with serious loss in your own families and abrupt changes to your daily lives, especially when it comes to your educations," Michelle Obama, via 'USA Today'.

Obama also praised members of the initiative for their determination to create a brighter future for others. In a video uploaded on July 14, the Duchess Of Sussex also commended foundation members. "Girl Up members are organizing Black Lives Matter protests around the world, you are creating films to encourage your peers to become activist leaders..," Meghan Markle, via 'USA Today'. "...you are reforming the criminal justice system, you are telling your school boards we need more mental health resources for all ages, you are leading coalitions to end gun violence."
