Coronavirus Safety Measures to Take in a Hotel

U.S. hotel chains are taking extra safety precautions due to COVID-19. If you want to take your own precautions, bring cleaning supplies. NYU Langone Health's Dr. Scott Weisenburg says wipe down shared surfaces to minimize risk. In common areas like lobbies and hallways, Weisenburg recommends wearing a mask. "Your risk will be increased if you go outside or go to indoor exposure areas where other guests are congregating," Dr. Scott Weisenburg, via Thrillist. For using the hotel gym, pool, or hot tub, Thrillist recommends checking with the establishment's policies first. American Hotel and Lodging Association (AHLA) CEO Chip Rogers adds that breakfast buffets are no more. According to Rogers, they have been replaced by "grab and go individually wrapped items." Weisenburg says hotel soap is trustworthy, and the towels provided should be "freshly laundered." To combat coronavirus and address concerns, AHLA has created the 'Safe Stay' guidelines. Marriott, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, and Best Western are among chains who belong to the AHLA.
