Amid the coronavirus pandemic, Uber Eats is now the company's most significant source of revenue. According to CNN Business, the second quarter saw Uber Eats take in $1.2 billion. That is double the amount it made in 2019's Q2. Gross bookings for Eats also saw an increase of 113 percent. By comparison, Uber Rides took in $790 million, and gross bookings fell 73 percent.
'Our delivery business alone is now as big as our Rides business was when I joined the company in 2017. We've essentially built a second Uber in under three years,' CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, via earnings call. The coronavirus pandemic has led to Uber slashing a quarter of its workforce and losing nearly $2 billion in Q2.
