The Weeknd’s ‘Blinding Lights’ Breaks Record on ‘Billboard’ Hot 100

The Weeknd has broken yet another record! The smash single has the record for most weeks spent in the top five on the ‘Billboard’ Hot 100. At 28 weeks, “Blinding Lights” has surpassed superstar Ed Sheeran. Sheeran previously held the record high of 27 weeks with his song, “Shape of You.”

Last month, “Blinding Lights” broke the record for most weeks atop the ‘Billboard’ Radio Songs airplay chart. That record was previously held by the Goo Goo Dolls, who set it 22 years ago with their song “Iris.” “Blinding Lights” also broke a record on the ‘Billboard’ Adult Pop Songs airplay chart after staying in the No. 1 spot for 13 weeks. It marked the longest time a male solo artist held the spot since the category was created nearly 25 years ago!
