Perseverance traveled more than 6 months, arriving on the red planet on Feb. 18. On Feb. 22, NASA released a first-of-its-kind video documenting Perseverance's descent and touchdown on Mars. As NASA's fifth robotic rover to have successfully landed on Mars, Perseverance is the most technologically advanced. It also houses a small helicopter named Ingenuity. NASA intends to use Perseverance and Ingenuity to explore and analyze the barren planet. Nuclear-powered Perseverance also sent back incredible images of the terrain. It will be studied and documented by using the rover's onboard tools, including a robotic "hand" with a camera, a rock drill and a chemical analyzer.
