Cumberland County Man-Made Lake Responsible For Brain-Eating Amoeba Death

One thing we aren't always aware of when it comes to swimming in the warmer seasons, are all the living organisms that can be found under water, but most importantly, under warm water. Fantasy Lake Water Park is now under investigation as a young man has died. Amoeba, unfortunately, can be the cause of sudden death due to the fact that when symptoms begin to appear, they are most likely 5 days in and about another 5 days away from an unexpected death. The state Department of Health and Human Resources said in a news release that the infection was caused by the amoeba naturally present in warm freshwater during the summer. It has been confirmed that it was caused by Naegleria fowleri, which is a single-celled organism known as the brain-eating amoeba.
