Driver Arrested After Bizarre Road Rage Incident in California

A bizarre road rage incident that ended with a rollover crash on a busy Southern California freeway and one person in jail was captured on video by another driver this week.

The incident began Thursday afternoon on eastbound State Route 78 near College Boulevard in the Oceanside area the CHP said.

The video doesn't show what started the beef between the two drivers, but the woman narrating the footage says one driver has cut in front of another and stopped on the roadway.

The cellphone footage posted to Facebook shows a man getting out of a silver BMW and walking to the SUV behind him. The man begins to motion to the other driver, in an attempt to get him to roll down his window. Once the SUV driver does, the BMW driver appears to spit at him.

The man begins walking back to his BMW convertible, which is soon hit by the SUV from behind. Unfortunately for the SUV, the move backfired, and as the SUV appears to sideswipe the car, it rolls onto its side, crashing near the median on the busy San Diego highway.

It's unclear whether anyone inside the SUV was injured from the footage. Traffic on the highway was backed up for over an hour until the scene was cleared.

The CHP said in a news release that the driver of the BMW was identified as Kevin McCall of Vista. McCall, who fled the scene, was later cited on suspicion of misdemeanor assault.

The SUV driver was identified as 23-year-old Andrew Branch of Escondido, California and arrested on suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon. Branch was booked into the Vista Detention Facility.

Both men will have their day in court according to the CHP.
