INTERVIEW:

ABOUT JEFFREY HAWTING:

Jeffrey brings both professional experience and personal passion to his role of President at LCI. Before coming to us, Jeffrey worked for over two decades in diverse organizations from non-profits to global Fortune 100 companies. With equally diverse roles in sales management, operations, marketing and more, his enterprise-level perspective lets us look to the future with confidence.

His current focuses are team development, process improvement, and new business development…but his anchor is our mission: employment for the blind and visually impaired.

ABOUT LCI:

LCI provides products and services for the federal government through the AbilityOne program, a federally-mandated program that supports employment for the blind or other individuals with significant disabilities. LCI manufactures over 400 products on the federal procurement list, creating value for the US and careers for our employees.

Originally founded in 1936 with a focus on manufacturing, LCI has expanded into the distribution, retail, and e-commerce spaces. We are headquartered in beautiful Durham, North Carolina and operate two distribution centers, four e-commerce websites, six manufacturing facilities, and over 35 military base stores.

LCI works closely with the federal government through their AbilityOne program, a GSA initiative that encourages sourcing products from suppliers who employ the blind, visually impaired, or other individuals with serious disabilities. LCI manufactures over 400 products on the federal procurement list, creating value for the US and careers for our employees.

To further execute our mission, LCI regularly engages in philanthropy to aid in research of glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration. One of our largest efforts takes place with Durham’s own Duke University Eye Center.
