Chappell Roan isn't bothered by a little wardrobe malfunction, even while accepting her very first Grammy Award.
Shortly after her memorable debut performance at the 2025 Grammy Awards, the "Good Luck Babe!" singer was named the Best New Artist. Wearing a medieval-style mini dress and tall pointed hat with a train, she made her way to the stage to deliver a heartfelt speech. The hat didn't last long as it slipped off as she began her speech, but she remained unbothered, only laughing as she said, "My hat's gonna fall and it's gonna be okay."
Instead, she focused fully on reading a speech written down in a notebook advocating for other artists.
"I told myself if I ever won a Grammy and I got to stand up here in front of the most powerful people in music, I would demand that labels and the industry profiting millions of dollars off artists would offer a livable way and healthcare, especially to developing artists," she said.
Roan used her acceptance speech to urge record labels to take care of artists, especially young artists, pointing to her own experience of being signed as a minor and later dropped, leaving her with no job experience and no health care as she tried to find a job during the pandemic.
"It was so devastating to feel so committed to my art and feel so betrayed by the system and so dehumanized to not have help," she said, bluntly stating, "Labels we got you, but do you got us?" as the audience cheered along.
Hosted by comedian Trevor Noah, who returned as host for the fifth year in a row, the 2025 Grammy Awards featured performances from artists like Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Billie Eilish, Doechii, Shakira, Charli XCX, Benson Boone, and many more as well as some must-see moments both on and off stage.
