There are difficult cycling terrains--and then there's the Bakersfield, California, gravel riding race called the Rock Cobbler, which recently routed participants through some guy's living room. The detour was a complete surprise, racer Brian Guiniling told Deadspin. “The race promoters didn’t tell us about it in advance, so we kind of just dropped off of a dirt hill and made a hard left into this backyard where they were having a pool party,” he said. The racing fan, who had knocked down part of his fence in order to make his hone route-worthy, was at least hospitable: Deadspin notes he gave out beers to riders while dressed in a taco suit.
