In videos, teens unwrap a sheath, snort it up one nostril and then pull it through their mouth.
Yes, it’s gross. Worse, it’s dangerous, warns Bruce Y. Lee, an associate professor of International Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
“The condom could easily get stuck in your nose or your throat, blocking your breathing or causing you to choke,” he wrote in Forbes. In addition, it could “cause an allergic reaction, or result in an infection.”
Like other viral challenges — like ingesting small laundry detergent packages and sniffing cinnamon — the condom snorting challenge has been around for years. The Daily News reported on it in 2015, when it noted another nutty condom trend that involved creating a water-filled globe around a person’s face and neck.
