Bald Eagle Lands on Seattle Mariners' Pitcher

A pitcher for the Seattle Mariners got a big surprise on Thursday when a bald eagle that was part of the pre-game ceremony dug its talons into his back. USA Today reports that James Paxton was standing on the field moments before the Mariners’ game against the Minnesota Twins was to begin when the eagle landed on his back. Paxton handled the incident rather calmly, leaning over enough that the bird slid down his back and onto the ground. Following the encounter, viewers tweeted about the irony of Paxton being Canadian. “James Paxton is American now,” one person joked. “Sorry, Canada, that's the rules. You can have him back if a moose sits on him.”
