Coronavirus: More Info on Your Financial Relief

With the House expected to pass the coronavirus stimulus package on Friday and Donald Trump expected to sign it soon after, Americans are wondering when they'll get their piece of the $2 trillion economic relief package.

According to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, the checks will go out "within three weeks" to those whom the IRS has information on. The payments will be automatically sent to those who have filed taxes or received Social Security benefits.

If you received your tax refund in the last two years via direct deposit, your money will be sent that way. If not, the IRS will send your check to the last known address it has on file. (NBC News)

  • If you've moved, you should notify the IRS as soon as possible via their website.
  • How much you receive depends on how much you make. Those who make less than $75,000 will get $1,200, plus an additional $500 for every child in their household.
  • For those who make more than $75,000, the payment is reduced by $5 for every extra $100 over that benchmark, and zeros out if you make $99,000 or as a couple, more than $198,000.
  • And yes, Social Security recipients will be getting a check.
