As coronavirus continues, there’s a shortage of personal protective equipment across the country. Even though it’s best to wear N5 masks, you can also use DIY masks made out of materials you have around the house.
You may have heard that Christian Siriano created thousands of masks for New York City healthcare workers with the help of his sewing team. Now, even more celebrities, like Kerry Washington, Busy Philipps and Hilarie Burton, are helping inspire people to make their own masks, too.
Here’s the highlights:
- Hilarie Burton has been hard at work getting masks to those on the frontlines, and she’s helping folks at home figure out how to get them made, too. She’s been sharing updates on her Instagram feed.
- Busy Philipps says when you can’t find any face masks, just use a scarf or bandana! In fact, here’s a helpful guide on how you can make your own facemask with a bandana and some hair ties – check it out HERE.
- “Project Runway” designer Brittany Allenis also helping donate face masks. She’s taken to Instagram to show off all the cute masks she’s handmade – over 1000 of them, which are for sale HERE. Plus, the keyword is “elastic” – if you have rubber bands or hair bands, you can make your own mask!Â
