Several stars took to social media to share their thoughts and feelings following the killing ofGeorge Floyd, but other stars actually got out there to show their solidarity by joining protests in Los Angeles
Halsey was seen with her former boyfriend Yungblud in Los Angeles, and took to social media to share that despite marching peacefully she was hit by rubber bullets and more.
“We were peaceful hands up not moving not breaching the line. they opened fire of rubber bullets and tear gas multiple times on us. citizens who were not provoking them," she wrote in social media, next top pictures of cops in protective gear. "most of us were simply begging them to have empathy. to reconsider. to consider humanity and our nations history and future.”
She added, "They opened fire multiple times. I was hit twice. Once by pellets and once by shrapnel. We were gassed repeatedly for hours."
- She did reiterate to fans that she was not arrested during the protest and that she was okay. She added, “There were ppl I had to get to safety as many of them have VISAs. Myself + many of my peers were shot, gassed + antagonized. The frontline was calm + did not provoke. BUT MANY ARE NOT SAFE + MANY ARE IN CUSTODY DONATE TO BAIL ORGS!!! I AM CURRENTLY.”
- As for why she felt it necessary to protest, she shared, “A true patriot is someone who will rebel against the government if it becomes necessary, to protect the greater good of their fellow citizens. We are patriots," she tweeted. "If you are not, you are a coward. THIS is what democracy looks like."
- And Halsey wasn’t the only artist to take to the streets. Ariana Grande was spotted in the crowd at a Los Angeles protest, wearing a white mask and holding a Black Lives Matter sign. Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes were also spotted at a protest in Miami Sunday.
