Statues of Britney Spears might replace three dozen Confederate monuments.
A petition was launched to persuade Louisiana Governor John Edwards to “do the right thing: Replace Confederate statues with an actual Louisiana hero and influential human being, Britney Spears.” Nearly 25,000 have signed. (Change.org)

The petition highlights some of the reasons that Britney deserves to have statues. She’s “an inspiration to millions. She's proven her strength of character by overcoming a highly publicized mental breakdown.” (TMZ)
A Republican politician in Tennessee wants to replace the 40-year-old statue of former KKK leader Nathan Bedford Forrest with country music icon Dolly Parton. State representative Jeremy Faison said, “If we want to preserve history, then let’s tell it the right way. How about getting a lady in there? What’s wrong with someone like Dolly Parton?” (WBMA-TV)
