Forbesmagazine reported Kanye West earned $170 million last year. As of April, he became Hip Hop’s second billionaire.
But this spring, as the pandemic hit, Kanye asked for government bailout money. To survive the shutdown, his Yeezy company applied for the Paycheck Protection Program.
He took up to $5 million. If at least 60 percent is spent on Yeezy payroll, Kanye will not have to pay back the money. (Deadline Hollywood)
The aid allowed Yeezy to retain 106 jobs, according to the SBA database.
Last month, Kanye donated $2 million to Black Lives Matter charities. He also pledged to pay college tuition for 6-year-old Gianna Floyd. She’s the daughter of George Floyd. Kanye said he would pay the legal fees for the families of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor andAhmaud Arbery. (Variety)
