Despite the demand, Adele will not be rushed to release an album.
Blame the pandemic and blame author Glennon Doyle, who wrote the self-help book Untamed: Stop Pleasing, Start Living. Adele credited this book with helping her stop being “stressed and disheveled.” By reading Untamed, she lost more than 40 pounds.
Adele plugged Doyle’s book at Instagram, “It explores the joy and peace we discover when we stop striving to meet the expectations of the world. Instead, dare to listen to and trust in the voice deep inside us.”
It was this voice that told Adele to pause on releasing another album. When asked by an Instagram follower when to expect new music, Adele replied this weekend, “I honestly have no idea.”
In January, Adele’s manager said an album would arrive in September. Then the virus struck. Jonathan Dickins admitted in June, “It isn’t coming in September, it’ll be ready when it’s ready. I can’t put a date on that yet.” (Billboard)
