The seven-minute apology from Ellen DeGeneres did not satisfy many that once worked for her. The unnamed ex-employees told BuzzFeed News they did not appreciate Ellen cracking jokes about the “toxic work environment” she created.
One former staff member complained, “Not only did Ellen turn our traumas into a joke, she somehow managed to make this about her.”
Another echoed Ellen’s word to criticize the apology, “There’s nothing wrong with being the ‘be kind’ lady if you’re actually true to your word.”
A third thought, “It’s not appropriate to have jokes in the monologue when you’re talking about people who have accused her leadership of serious sexual misconduct.”
Apparently, these disgruntled former employees watched only the monologue. Had they seen the entire episode on Monday, they would have heard Ellen conclude with a unique sign off, “Feel this love and I'm giving it back to you. Spread love not other things — just the good stuff is what we should spread.” (BuzzFeed News)
