One week from Friday, the FX Network airs Framing Britney Spears. The documentary produced by theNew York Timeshas earned strong reviews.
The show exposes the conservatorship that has kept Britney caged for more than a decade. In 75-minutes, they cover Britney from her Star Search and Mickey Mouse Club days on TV to dating Justin Timberlake and eventual mental health meltdown.
Framing Britney Spears suggests she's been held captive by fame. She was treated like a sex object before graduating high school. Even her boyfriend acted sexist toward Britney. The FX show has a clip of Timberlake “speaking crudely on the radio about Spears.”
Her former assistant, Felicia Culotta, was around to see it all. She believes Britney will one day be unshackled to tell her side of the story. Felicia told theNew York Times, “The one reason I agreed to doFraming Britney Spears is so we could remind people why they fell in love with her in the first place.” (Variety)
