All full-time officers at the Kenly Police Department resigned Wednesday afternoon. The mass resignation included five officers, the town clerk, and the utilities clerk.
According to the former police chief, Josh Gibson, the town is understaffed with police officers and cited issues with the new town manager. Gibson posted on Facebook saying “The new [town] manager has created an environment I do not feel we can perform our duties and services to the community”
Johnston County Sheriff Steve Bizzell stated that the Johnston County Board of Commissioners will not let the citizens of Kenly go without public safety.
